I’m so pleased to share a guest post by my new friend, Sara, AKA @cookwith5kids – enjoy!
I am so excited to be invited as a guest blogger on Ellie’s blog. I will give you a bit of back story on our family. I am Sara, the Mom behind the blog Cookwith5kids. I started my blog over 5 years ago as a way to keep my recipes from getting lost. I would type up my recipes and then throw them in the trash. Sometimes I would take a photo, sometimes I had no time. It was not a job, it was a way for me to basically have an evolving recipe box. A few years later I was talking to someone at a birthday party about a recipe. She told me that she had found a recipe she had made for the party on my blog. She started to hug me and introduce me to all her friends like I was someone famous. Up to this point I did not even realize anyone visited my blog besides me!
Fast forward a few more years and I decided to take blogging more seriously. Bloggers were making money at this job. Bloggers were getting sent free products to try out, and bloggers were also going to conferences to network and learn how to make their blogs better. In 2015, I started attending blogging conferences and making friends in this field.
My last words of wisdom are this: Don’t expect your kids to get along constantly and be best friends 24/7. It is much more normal for your children to occasionally fight and hate each other for a few hours, then come together, hug it out and move on. You can break up the tension with a fun recipe, a quick round of mini golf, or a nice family board game.
